Health and Safety Management System

Range Roofing Limited operates a Safety Management System as detailed in the Company Health and Safety Policy. The system conforms with HSE guidance as described in the HSG(65) safety management model. It provides guidance and sets out roles and responsibilities for the directors, managers, health & safety dutyholders and employee representatives who aim to improve health and safety within the organisation. The system is underpinned by the “POPIMAR” model which identifies and puts into practice effective health and safety policies; organising for health and safety; planning and implementation; measuring performance; auditing and reviewing performance.

All personnel are briefed in the requirements of the Health and Safety Policy at induction stage and after each annual policy review. Dutyholders are appointed to ensure that the required actions are undertaken to comply with the company’s responsibility to maintain and promote a positive health and safety culture.

Competent and industry experienced Risk Assessors are appointed by the management to risk assess our operations utilising qualitative techniques. Generic and Specific Risk Assessment processes are used in tandem with comprehensive Safety Method Statements to ensure safe working practices and systems are maintained.

Safety information is gathered via our independent H&S consultants and in-house Safety Coordinator (via courses, seminars, IOSH updates, etc) and disseminated to the workforce using modular training techniques (i.e. Toolbox Talks, Feedback, etc), Notice Boards, Formal Communications, Safety Bulletins and inclusion in Risk Assessments and Method Statements when applicable.

Standards are monitored by employing Reactive Monitoring techniques (i.e. accident reporting and investigation, near miss & hazard reporting, accident frequency rates, etc) and Proactive Monitoring techniques (i.e. H&S Inspections, Senior Management Tours, Independent H&S Audits by Consultants, etc.). Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are used to measure the specific elements of the Safety Management System as an indicator of overall Health and Safety performance.

Annual review meetings are undertaken to evaluate performance and are attended by the Director, In-house and Individual H&S Consultants, Senior Management, Supervisors and Workforce representatives. The findings of these meetings help in formulating a Management Action Plan (MAP) which is then worked towards throughout the year and also checked against during regular review meetings.

In addition to the Management System, Range Roofing Limited is proud to have achieved CSCS Platinum Certification which is only awarded to companies who maintain a consistent minimum of 90% CSCS compliance throughout its workforce. We currently maintain 100% CSCS compliance whilst supplementing our workforce training needs with numerous NVQ Level 3 certifications.

Allied to this, the company is also CHAS Accredited and a member of both the North West Construction Safety Group (NWCSG) and the Merseyside and Cheshire Construction Safety Group (MCCSG). Our Safety Department is also able to seek external advice from both the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).
